The LOV module is mounted on the multiposition valve so that the channel leading to the flow cell is vertical. In this configuration, gravity assists in even distribution of beads between the optical fibers. The red retaining plug, made of PEEK tubing, is shown in position at the outlet of the flow cell and in front of the green PEEK tubing, which holds the red plug in place.
Mounting of the red plug into the LOV channel is conveniently done by using a funnel fashioned from a pipette tip.
